As a child Gemma trained at the Sabatini School of Dance and Performance and from 18 at the North London Dance Studio , she graduated with a Diploma in Performing Arts, Vocational exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern and National and her I.S.T.D Associate Qualifications. Straight from college Gemma began her performing career which took her around the UK and Europe, not only dancing and singing but managing and choreographing new shows.
It was a few years into her professional career that Gemma realised although she loves to perform, her real passion was for teaching and working with young people. So when she was given the opportunity to take over Stage Plus in 2007 she jumped at the chance.
Since college Gemma has intermittently continued her training at the Linda Sweetzer Teacher Training College where she passed her ISTD FDI and CDE in Modern and Tap as well as her Advanced 2 Modern. She also goes on many courses to keep herself up to date with new grades and information.
Gemma is also part of the Risborough Youth Theatre Team and has been choreographing for them since 2006. She thoroughly enjoys helping put on full scale musicals and pantomimes, working with such a great group of people.
In 2010 Gemma became a Zumba Instructor which she enjoyed teaching until she went on maternity leave. She also worked as a Pre-School Assistant from January 2012-March 2016, where she passed her Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young Peoples Workforce and her Level 3 Diploma. In August 2015 Gemma became one of the first in a group of teachers to join ID Dance, a NEW Independent teacher training and examination board, where she joined Ryan Jenkins for a weekend of learning the new Contemporary Syllabus.
Gemma holds a Current Chaperone Licence (Bucks) and DBS and is First Aid Trained.
As well as teaching classes, doing admin, choreographing for Risborough Youth Theatre and generally running around like a headless chicken she is also Mummy to 2 little boys.
During her early years, Zoe performed Modern and Tap in shows at the Wycombe Swan, took part in local festivals and took exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, National, Character, Acro and Song and Dance. She later found a new passion for Drama when she was chosen to play an important role on TV at the age of 7.
At 10 years old, Zoe started drama classes performing in yearly festivals, medal tests, All England competitions and LAMDA examinations.
Zoe’s love for dance and drama also contributed to her regular involvement in School events and pantomimes. She took GCSE Drama Studies and throughout her teenage years, became a student teacher in Tap, Modern and Acro.
In 2011, Zoe felt it was time to finally reach for her childhood dream – Teach her own classes! She started by teaching Zumba and Tap classes to Adults, which led to teaching pre-school movement classes and Children’s Ballet and Modern classes. Zoe is now working towards her ISTD DDI qualifications in Tap and Modern.
Having progressed through the LAMDA examinations herself for over 10 years, continuously achieving high grades, she was also keen to pass on her knowledge and experience to others. Therefore, in 2013, Zoe was able to start teaching LAMDA Drama classes, which include LAMDA examinations, but have also offered all her students an opportunity to perform in various events to the Public.
“It’s the best feeling in the world watching someone perform a drama or dance piece that you have taught them, and even better watching them grow in their knowledge and performance….Knowing that it was you that helped make it possible!”
