What Stage Plus Means To Me #Jenni

This Weeks Blog Post is from Jenni Hunt a Graduate Student who is now at University.

‘I joined Stage Plus when I was about 12 and it changed everything for me. Firstly, I became a little too obsessed with dancing and singing and everything musical theatre (I’m sure my parents would agree), and secondly I was able to meet an amazing group of people. Even now, three years on from leaving, I still can’t shake the friends that I made there.

Stage Plus also taught me so much. When I first joined I struggled with telling my left foot from my right foot but Gemma never gave up on me. She gets all the credit for turning me from a twelve-year-old who was too embarrassed to dance in her own bedroom, let alone on stage, into someone who willingly gets up in front of an audience – for anyone who knows me, that’s no small feat!

I think what makes Stage Plus so special are the people there, both students and teachers. Going to classes and doing shows were always things I enjoyed doing because of the people I was doing them with. There’s not many people I would get on stage in an 80s style leotard for, but Gemma is the kind of teacher that inspires that level of commitment.

As 11th June 2017 marks the 10th Anniversary of myself as Owner and Principal of Stage Plus, I wanted to publish a blog post per week talking about what Stage Plus means to people, written by a variety of people including faculty, parents and  students, past and present!

If you would like to write a little bit about your time at Stage Plus please email it to me with a photo.
