DANCE and DRAMA,
GROUP & PRIVATE LESSONS
Dance is one of the most difficult, disciplined, and beautiful art forms! Dance is where we started and is our strong base. Not only is it fun and rewarding, it is a wonderful way to keep fit and it establishes good posture for life. Dance classes are offered to all ages from beginners to advanced for fun or to exam level, or for the more serious to professional performance level. We can also point you in the right direction for your teaching qualifications.
Classes start for boys and girls at preschool level (2.5yrs) and continue on to Majors.
Modern Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles in recent years, mainly due to its popularity on television shows, movies, music videos, London Shows and commercials.
People enjoy watching jazz dancers, as the dancing is fun and energetic. It has a strong
technical base and high performance levels.
Classes start at Primary level (5yrs) and continue to Majors.
Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns, a percussive sound and timely beats and as such the dancers are considered to be, somewhat, musicians. The term “tap dancing” is derived from the tapping sound produced when the small metal plates on the dancer’s shoes touch a hard floor or surface.
The goal in tap dancing is to produce clear, clean sounds, with various levels of tone. Body weight should be held slightly forward, allowing most of the dancing to be done on the balls of the feet. The knees and ankles should be relaxed at all times.
Ever popular with boys and girls from Primary (5yrs) to Majors.
Acro dance is a style that combines classical dance technique with acrobatic elements. It
is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context. It is a popular dance style in amateur as well as professional dance theatre, such as Cirque De Soleil.
Acro is an especially challenging dance style for dancers as it requires them to be trained in both dance and acrobatic skills. Acro dancers must be in excellent physical condition as well, because acro is a physically demanding activity.
A class focusing on strengthening, flexibility and limbering. The students also get to practice and perfect gymnastic style tricks with support to hand. Suitable for boys and girls of all ages and abilities.
Modern Jazz & Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a dance style that blends ballet and jazz dance. Lyrical is generally smoother and a bit faster than ballet, but not quite as fast as jazz. A lyrical dancer uses movement to express strong emotions such as love, joy and anger. Movements in lyrical dance are characterized by fluidity and grace, with the dancer flowing seamlessly from one move to another, holding finishing steps as long as possible. Leaps are exceptionally high and soaring, and turns are fluid and continuous.
There are many methods to training in contemporary dance, Cunningham, Graham and Limon
being just a few. The main components of Contemporary are Release, fall and recovery, direction changes, isolations, core strengthening, connecting with the floor and improvisation.
As the UK’s most up coming dance style used by most choreographers, contemporary dance training is fast becoming the style that all dancers should attain for their future.
Our classes allow adults to develop and broaden their dance skills through classes that progress from week to week with the opportunity to participate in our bi-annual shows. Whether you are a beginner or have danced before, we offer classes in different genres for fitness and fun.
